John Nienhuis International Lifestyle Photographer
All wigged out in Belfast
While most of us were celebrating Easter weekend with our families, John Nienhuis hopped across the big pond and met almost 40 new families while shooting the Trinity Dancers at the World Championships -- the “Olympics” of Irish Dance -- in Belfast, North Ireland.
John’s mission was to catch the girls during their prep, practices and the aftermath of the event. John documented the trip while learning the finer points of make up application, wig preparation and streak free spray tanning. And he got the opportunity to see the girls transform themselves from teenagers chatting about Miley Cyrus to world class athletes dancing for the gold medal.
The weekend was very successful for both parties: the girls brought home the gold, part of the only American team to have ever brought home a gold medal for the United States. And John, the father of 3 teenage boys, brought home great photos, along with a better appreciation of just how fast teenage girls can dance, and talk.
Give us a call, whether it’s a corporate photography project, a lifestyle photography project or a wee bit of both. Congratulations to the Trinity Dancers, and may the road rise to meet your (dancing) feet. (April 2008)
